Maintain safe and reliable operation of your fire pit with the Flame Havens Refuge Series Thermocouple Replacement. This critical safety component is designed to sense the presence of flame and automatically shut off gas flow if the flame is extinguished; protecting your system and surroundings.
Essential Flame Safety Protection
The thermocouple is a key part of your fire pit’s safety system:
-
- Detects active flame at the burner
- Sends a signal to keep the gas valve open during operation
- Automatically shuts off gas flow if the flame goes out (wind, interruption, etc.)
This ensures no unburned gas is released, providing peace of mind during use.
Designed for Refuge Series Compatibility
Engineered specifically for:
-
- All Flame Havens Refuge Series fire pits
- Both Propane (LP) and Natural Gas (NG) configurations
- Seamless integration with CSA-certified ignition and valve systems
Restore Proper Fire Pit Function
Over time, thermocouples can wear out due to repeated heat exposure:
-
- Metal expansion and contraction from high heat cycles
- Reduced ability to accurately sense flame presence
- Valve may fail to stay open, preventing the fire pit from operating
Replacing the thermocouple restores normal ignition and continuous flame operation.

FAQ
Everything You Need to Know
What is GFRC concrete, and will every finish look identical?
GFRC is Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete, offering strength, reduced weight, and outdoor durability. Because each enclosure is hand-finished, minor variations in color, texture, mottling, pinholes, and surface character are normal.
Can the fire pit remain outdoors year-round?
The GFRC enclosure is designed for outdoor use, but the fire pit should be protected from rain, snow, sprinklers, standing water, and prolonged moisture. The included protective cover should only be installed after the burner and fire glass are completely cool and dry.
Does the fire pit require professional installation?
A licensed or certified gas professional should install or connect the appliance, confirm gas pressure and capacity, perform leak testing, and verify safe operation. This is especially important for natural gas lines and any fuel conversion.
Are the glass wind guard and burner cover included?
They are optional accessories sold separately. Both are model-specific, so customers must select the correct shape and dimensions for their fire pit. The burner cover must always be removed before lighting the appliance.
Does the fire pit require electricity?
No household electrical connection is required. The ignition system is battery-powered and uses a spark igniter with flame-sensing technology. The system generally operates with a replaceable AAA battery.
What surface and clearances are required?
The fire pit must be installed on a stable, level, noncombustible surface such as concrete, masonry, brick, or stone. Adequate clearance must be maintained from walls, ceilings, furniture, vegetation, and combustible materials. Customers should follow the manual for their specific model and all applicable local codes.
